World No. 5 Tommy Fleetwood<\/a> admits he needs to work on areas of his game as he heads to the RBC Heritage on the back of a “dreadful” Masters.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Brit has produced some promising displays this year, but he’s yet to add to his maiden PGA Tour win at the Tour Championship in August 25.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fleetwood achieved four top 10s going into the first major of the season, with a T4 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am his best result.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the 35-year-old struggled with his approach play and short game at Augusta, particularly in the final round as he made four bogeys and one double-bogey to finish with a 76.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fleetwood placed T33 and he intends to use his poor weekend as motivation to improve as the year progresses.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Just would look at it as motivation for things that need to be better. I was a long way from being good enough to contend this weekend,” Fleetwood said.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I hit the ball – I struck the ball well for a lot of that 36 holes, but too many mistakes. Hit it in the wrong place too many times. Short game was awful and didn’t putt the way I did in the first two rounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Just take from it there’s stuff that I need to work on… My scoring this weekend was dreadful. Like I say, I hit the ball well for a lot of it. My long game wasn’t the problem at all.<\/span><\/p>\n

“You’re going to hit bad shots at some point. I hit a handful of bad shots. But some errors hitting it in the wrong spots, and then yeah, just didn’t have it at all.”<\/span><\/p>\n
