2026/27 Premier League
Matchday 5
Bournemouth vs Liverpool
Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth
Sunday 20 September, 15:00
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola will head back to his old stomping ground at the Vitality Stadium when he takes his new team to face his former employers, Bournemouth, for a Premier League clash on Sunday 20 September. Kick-off is at 15:00.
Form
Bournemouth remained winless in the Premier League this season after they were held 2-2 at home by Brentford this past weekend – with goals from Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier.
Liverpool played to a third draw in four Premier League matches when they were held 0-0 at home by Fulham this past weekend.
Team news
Ahead of facing Real Sociedad in UEFA club action this midweek, Bournemouth are set to be without Amine Adli, Junior Kroupi and Julian Araujo, but Veljko Milosavljevic is close to a return.
Liverpool will host Tottenham Hotspur for a League Cup tie in midweek, with the following players unavailable: Federico Chiesa, Giovanni Leoni, Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike.
Head-to-head
Bournemouth and Liverpool have met in 24 matches across all competitions. The Reds have claimed 19 wins compared to three for the Cherries, while two games have been drawn.
The teams each claimed a home win over the other last season in the Premier League: Liverpool triumphed 4-2 at Anfield in August, while Bournemouth won 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium in January 2026.
Quotes
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola: “I think it’s the first game since I’m here, I think we’ve had problems to create chances, to score goals, to make the difference offensively. That’s the main reason. We couldn’t create as many chances as we wanted and we haven’t scored a goal. And that’s why we go just with one point.”
