Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is hoping to play his part for the team at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, June 28 after a disappointing race in Barcelona.
The Monegasque only started 10th on the grid at the Barcelona Grand Prix, having crashed in Q3, although he recovered to P7 on the opening lap.
But Leclerc was unable to make further inroads after overtaking McLaren’s Oscar Piastri on lap 8 and he eventually had to retire with just four laps remaining due to a Hydraulics failure which forced him into the gravel on the exit of Turn 2.

The 28-year-old watched team-mate Lewis Hamilton win his maiden race with the Prancing Horse following a dominant display and has now finished behind the Englishman in the last four rounds.
Leclerc beat Hamilton in Australia (P3) and Japan (P3) – his only two podiums to date in 2026 – and trails the seven-time world champion by 40 points in fourth place in the Drivers’ standings, with Mercedes’ George Russell 31 points ahead of him in third position.
The eight-time Grand Prix winner paid tribute to Hamilton and the team, although he was disappointed not to have a hand in the Englishman’s historic victory in Montmelo.

“It’s not only power steering, in general I had no brakes, no power steering, no shifts, so I guess it’s something with the hydraulic there. I don’t know yet exactly what happened,” Leclerc said about his retirement after the race.
“I don’t want to take any credit for today, I don’t think I did much for team. I think Lewis and the team won it on their own and I wish I had been a bit more in front, been a bit more in the mix of things.
“But I wasn’t for my fault. A huge congratulations to Lewis, who has been on it for quite a bit and has been incredible.
“And a huge congrats to the team, who is pushing massively on upgrades and we are showing it now. It’s good to see this, I’m just very disappointed in my side obviously.”
2026 Barcelona Grand Prix results:
Winner: Lewis Hamilton – Ferrari
Second Place: George Russell – Mercedes
