2025-26 UEFA Champions League
Semifinal, second leg
Bayern Munich v Paris Saint-Germain
Allianz Arena, Munich
Wednesday 6 May, 21:00
Aggregate score: 4-5
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are likely to produce another all-time thriller when they meet for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal tie, set for the Allianz Arena in Munich on the evening of Wednesday 6 May 2026. Kick-off at 21:00.
An astonishing first-leg clash at the Parc des Princes in Paris last week ended in a 5-4 win for PSG. Bayern’s Harry Kane opened the scoring via a 17th minute penalty, before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia quickly equalised. Joao Neves then put the French champions in front just after the half-hour mark, but Michael Olise made it 2-2 in the 41st minute.
However, PSG went into the break 3-2 up after a penalty from Ousmane Dembele, and further second-half strikes from Kvara and Dembele saw the hosts flying 5-2 in the lead before the hour mark. Yet Bayern kept up an attacking threat and pulled two goals back via Dayot Upemecano and Luis Diaz to leave the tie 5-4 in favour of the Parisians… and with all neutrals hoping for another goal-laden thriller in the return game.
While the French club are looking to make their third Champions League final appearance (adding to the 2019-20 season when they were defeated by Bayern Munich, as well as last season when they crushed Inter Milan 5-0 for their first European crown), the Bavarians are are looking to return to the competition’s final for the first time since 2019-20, when they defeated PSG 1-0 to claim their sixth European crown (adding to 1973-74, 1974-75, 1975-76, 2000-01 and 2012-13).
Bayern will be without Serge Gnabry (adductor) and Raphael Guerreiro (hamstring) due to injury, while Lennart Karl is doubtful due to a hamstring issue. PSG will be without goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier (thigh) and Achraf Hakimi (thigh) due to injury.
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany is hopeful that home advantage tips the balance his side’s way as they seek to overturn the one-goal deficit: “We’re against the best side in Europe, because they’re the reigning champions. The result is still in the balance. But we need the stadium to have an impact; it’s a legendary place, where this club has achieved so many great things. We can’t hope for anything better.”
Reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, meanwhile, believes another amazing match is on the cards: “Yes, we’re two sides that want to attack. We won’t change our philosophy. We want to attack and so do they, so I think a great game is in the offing.”
