With the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks set to stage an exciting NBA finals series during the next couple of weeks, coach Mitch Johnson and star player Victor Wembanyama spoke highly of their side’s success this season.
The Spurs booked their ticket to the NBA finals following a thrilling 4-3 series win over outgoing champions Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.
Taking to the Paycom Center in Game seven, Wembanyama noted an impressive 22 points as he rubber stamped his status as the Conference Finals MVP during a 111-103 win for his side.
Speaking after the victory, Wembanyama called his side’s journey to the Finals ‘powerful’ before urging his teammates to finish the job.
“This feeling, I can’t explain it,” Wembanyama said.
“It’s so powerful. We want four more – we’re not done.”

According to Spurs coach Johnson, he foresaw a successful campaign overall ahead of the ‘biggest moment’ yet to come.
“Back in October, we knew we had a chance to be pretty good,” Johnson said.
“The players did what they’ve been doing all year and they met the biggest moment.”
