South African golfer Ruan de Smidt has already tasted success on the Sunshine Tour this year and will once again look to shine at the Betway Big Easy Tour at the Glenvista Country Club in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
As perhaps one of the most active South African golfers currently, de Smidt rose to the top at the Big Easy Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 2 in April, winning the title with a score of 9-under-par at the Heron Banks Golf & River Estate.
De Smidt’s win at the Heron Banks Golf & River Estate came amid major adversity given that he missed cut at the KitKat Cash & Carry Pro-AM, Sunbet Challenge, Big Easy Tour 2 & 3 this season alone.
As it stands, de Smidt sits in fifth position by order of merit on the Betway Big Easy Tour table with 234.56 points.
The 36-year-old comes in at 1902 in the World rankings and has noted R4 329 285 in career prize money.
His frequent activity in the sport saw him note 3.61 Birdies per round, 92 021 Eagles and 10 Holes in one, while he also noted 33 tournament top 10 finishes in his career so far.
