Lewis Hamilton heads to the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix keen to convert strong recent form into a win and close the gap in the 2026 Drivers’ Championship.

The Ferrari driver delivered a strong second place in the chaotic Monaco Grand Prix, finishing behind winner Kimi Antonelli despite receiving a five-second pitlane speeding penalty.
The result marked another podium for Hamilton and showed Ferrari’s competitive pace in race conditions.

Hamilton sits second in the Drivers’ Championship with 90 points after six races.
The Briton trails championship leader Kimi Antonelli (156 points) but remains well ahead of George Russell (88 points).

Hamilton returns to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a track where he has won a joint record six times in his career and dominated for years with Mercedes.

“It’s great to be back on the podium in Monaco and to finish in P2 for the second race in a row and to be able to share it with Kimi (Antonelli) for his first win here,” Hamilton said after the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix.
“This race is always one of the toughest of the season and today’s conditions made it even more challenging, so finishing in second is a really encouraging result and just shows the momentum we are building as a team.
“We are continuing to make solid progress and I’m grateful for the work everyone is putting in, both here at the track and back in Maranello. There’s still a step to make before we can consistently fight for victories, but I know we will keep pushing hard to get there.”
