Patrick Cantlay will look to claim a third BMW Championship title for the third time and edge closer to Tiger Woods’ record.
What to know about Cantlay
The American star turned professional in 2012 and has steadily established himself as one of the most consistent players of his generation.
Cantlay has already secured eight PGA Tour victories across his career, while also securing top 10 finishes in all four golf majors.
Latest News
In his most recent start, Cantlay finished T12 at the 2026 FedEx St. Jude Championship and will arrive at the BMW Championship ranked No. 43 in the FedExCup standings.
The 34-year-old is currently ranked 38th in the Official World Golf Rankings; his highest ranking was world number three.
Why Cantlay is one of the favourites
The 2021 FedExCup champion has posted solid results this season, including a T8 at the Rocket Classic and a T12 at the St. Jude Championship.
Cantlay enters the BMW Championship with proven success at this event, having been crowned champion twice (2021 and 2022) and knows what it takes to win playoff titles.
Tiger Woods is the only golfer to have won the BMW Championship more than twice, clinching it five times, and Cantlay will look to edge closer to the golf icon’s tally.
Quotes
“I hit a lot of solid shots and then I got a couple of good breaks,” Cantlay said after winning the 2022 BMW Championship.
“Obviously on 17 that break is something I’m not expecting and it was really big for me to take advantage of it. I played a lot of great golf this week and I’m happy to come out of here with the win.”
“These golf courses, like I said earlier this week, reminded me a lot of each other, and I was glad not to go six holes in a playoff today.”
