Lewis Hamilton will be aiming for a strong result at the 2026 Miami Grand Prix as he looks to win the race for the first time his career.

The Ferrari driver finished sixth in the Japanese Grand Prix on 29 March, the most recent round of the 2026 Formula One World Championship.

Hamilton started strongly but struggled with power and pace in the race, dropping positions and scoring just eight points at Suzuka.

Formula One ambitions

The seven-time Formula One world champion sits fourth in the World Drivers’ Championship standings with 41 points after three races.

Hamilton trails team-mate Charles Leclerc (third on 49 points) and the dominant Mercedes duo of Kimi Antonelli (72) and George Russell (63).

Why Hamilton could win in Miami

Hamilton has a solid record in Miami with consistent points finishes (sixth in 2022, sixth in 2023, sixth in 2024, and eighth in 2025).

The Sprint weekend suits his racecraft, and Ferrari’s significant aerodynamic and engine upgrades are expected to boost performance on the Florida track.

What did he say?

“It was a demanding race, and clearly not the result I wanted,” Hamilton said after the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix.

“My first stint went well in terms of tyre management, but I simply didn’t have the pace to compete. The focus now is on understanding why and finding ways to improve. 

“With a month before the next race, we’ll use the time to analyse every detail from these first three races and make sure we come back stronger.”
