Mercedes driver George Russell will be aiming to get his F1 title challenge back on track at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, June 7.
The Brit lost more ground to Silver Arrows team-mate Kimi Antonelli after being forced to retire at the Canadian Grand Prix – the first time he failed to finish a race this season.
Russell started the year strongly by claiming victory at the Australian Grand Prix before finishing second on the podium at the Chinese Grand Prix.

But the 28-year-old was unable to match Antonelli in the next two races, only managing back-to-back P4s at the Japanese Grand Prix and the Miami Grand Prix to see the Italian pull away in the Drivers’ standings.
Russell was engaged in an enthralling battle with Antonelli at the Canadian Grand Prix, overtaking the 19-year-old on lap 7 and staying in front until lap 30 before a battery issue led to his retirement.

The King’s Lynn native, who trails surprise leader Antonelli by 43 points in second place, expressed frustration at the way his race in Montreal ended, but was “satisfied” with his weekend after winning the sprint race.
“Everything just turned off all of a sudden. I went into the corner, the engine stopped, no electronics, no proper braking. A bit lost for words to be honest right now,” Russell told Sky Sports F1.
“From my side, I don’t feel like there was anything more I could have done this weekend. I will leave satisfied. Of course I’m pretty damn frustrated with what happened. What more can I do?”
