La Liga
Matchday 5
Racing Santander vs Alaves
Campos de Sport de El Sardinero
Santander, Spain
Saturday, 12 September 2026
Kick-off is at 14:00
As a team punching above their weight this season, Alaves remain among the unbeaten teams in La Liga as they prepare to do battle against Racing Santander on away grounds this Saturday.
Sandwiched between Barcelona and Real Madrid currently, second-placed Alaves have been in blistering form at the start of the campaign after noting 10 points from four matches so far.
Alaves are on the back of a convincing 5-2 win over Osasuna on Sunday, leaving them two points away from the summit. Apart from their victory over Osasuna, Alaves recorded wins over Villareal and Getafe while a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano in matchday two added a point to their tally.
Their upcoming opponents have fared considerably worse this season and will enter their next match sitting in 13th spot.
Racing suffered a 3-2 loss against Rayo Vallecano in their most recent league assignment, leaving them on four points from four matches. Following their opening day 2-2 draw with Villareal, Racing recorded a 1-0 defeat against Getafe before getting back to winning ways with a 3-2 win over Elche during matchday three.
After a strong start to the campaign, Quique Sánchez Flores was awarded the La Liga August Coach of the Month award, warding off the likes of Hansi Flick and Jose Mourinho.
“Quique Sánchez Flores has been named LA LIGA EA SPORTS Coach of the Month for August,” La Liga confirmed on their official website.
“Deportivo Alavés has had a stellar start to the season: 3 wins and 1 draw currently have them in second place in the standings, trailing only FC Barcelona.”
