As a player who leaped into the 30-strong field of the PGA Tour Championship, Gary Woodland will now look to build on his showing from the BMW Championship at the Tour Championship on Thursday.
Prior to the BMW Championship in St. Louis earlier this month, Woodland was ranked 31st on the list, needing one position to appear at the East Lake tournament.
Woodland then put himself among the competitions best with opening rounds of 64 and 65 but ultimately came in tied for fourth, five shots behind eventual winner Wyndham Clark.
As a result, Woodland sprung from 31st to 18th position, a notable feat considering that he also claimed the 2026 Texas Children’s Housten Open in March.
Woodland, who required brain surgery in 2023, has come leaps and bounds ever since and is now a proud golfer hoping to leave his mark alongside the best players this season.
“I’m going to say it’s impressive from where I’ve been, for sure,” Woodland said.
“There’s definitely weeks out here where I didn’t even think I would be here this week.
“To get to next week, I haven’t done it in six years, with everything I battled this year, I’m super proud of myself, I can tell you that.”
