Sepp Straka will look to make a successful Truist Championship title defence when he plays in the PGA Tour event at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 May 2026.
Straka won his first Truist Championship title in 2025 when he put up a tournament record aggregate score of 264 (-16) to win by two strokes ahead of Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas.
However, his triumph came at the Wissahickon Course at the Philadelphia Cricket Club – with the Truist Championship (formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship) usually played at Quail Hollow.
Last year it was moved so that the Charlotte venue could prepare to host the PGA Championship.
Defending a title at a different venue to the one it was won on will be a strange challenge for Straka, but one he is looking forward to.
“I’ve never done that before, it’ll be a first… I’m sure there will be some unique feelings involved.”
“It’ll be great getting back to Quail Hollow, it’s a great club, a great event, they alsway take such good care of the players and everybody there, so it’ll be a really special week.”
The main threats to Straka’s hopes of a repeat triumph will come from Masters Tournament champion Rory McIlroy (who will be returning to competitive action after a month off, and is a record four-time champion of this event), as well as the likes of Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young and Justin Rose, while world No1 Scottie Scheffler has chosen to skip this event as he targets the upcoming PGA Championship.
