As Napoli endure a largely frustrating campaign, the former Serie A champions remain in the hunt for UEFA Champions League qualification as they prepare to battle Pisa on Sunday.

Currently in second position, Napoli suffered a frustrating 3-2 loss against Bologna during Matchday 36, remaining on 70 points for the season.

After surrendering the league title to Inter Milan, Napoli immediately focused on their nearest mandate: qualifying for the Champions League. They sit three points ahead of fourth-placed AC Milan with two games left to play.

Regarding immediate form, Napoli has battled with consistency over the last few weeks, recording one win, two losses and two draws in their previous five matches.

Pisa on the other hand, occupy 20th position on the table and have already confirmed their relegation to Serie B for next season.

The struggling outfit accumulated a mere 18 points from 36 matches during the campaign and will head into their next game on a run of seven consecutive losses.

Reflecting on Napoli’s goals for the campaign, Antonio Conte has reiterated that qualifying for the UEFA Champions League remains as high importance for his side during the last two games of the season.

We managed to get it back on track, tried to win and pushed hard [against Bologna], but if you can’t win, then you should at least try not to lose. I don’t think we deserved to lose, but these things happen,” Conte said.

There are two games to go, we’ve got to recharge the batteries, secure Champions League football in these two matches and try to do our best.

I am not upset with the performance, I saw the lads wanted to get the job done tonight, but at times there’s a twist in the tale.”
