2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 32
Atletico Madrid v Athletic Bilbao
Estadio Metropolitano
Madrid, Spain
Saturday, 25 April 2026
Kick-off is at 21h00
Athletic Bilbao will be looking to capitalise on Atletico Madrid’s recent poor run of form when they clash at the Metropolitano on Saturday, April 25 in the late kick-off.
The Lions are hoping to make a late push for European football after really struggling for results this season which has seen them lose 15 of their 32 La Liga matches.
Ernesto Valverde’s side recorded just their 12th win of the campaign when they beat Osasuna 1-0 on April 21 to snap a two-game losing streak.
Athletic find themselves three points adrift of the UEFA Conference League berth in ninth position ahead of Celta Vigo’s trip to league leaders Barcelona on April 22.
However, Real Sociedad’s Copa del Rey triumph could potentially open another avenue to Europe for them depending on where Erreala finish.

Los Colchoneros could be forgiven for focusing on the UEFA Champions League after they overcame the Blaugrana 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
Diego Simeone’s side have lost six of their last seven encounters in all competitons, including a 4-3 defeat on penalties to Sociedad in the Copa del Rey final on April 18.
Atleti should have fourth spot sewn up in the league and they will target a return to winning ways against relegation-threatened Elche on April 22.

Valverde reserved special praise for goalkeeper Unai Simon, who made two vital saves late on to earn maximum points against Los Rojillos, who are also challenging for top-six finish.
“You can’t imagine how valuable this victory is. We all knew the three points were crucial. We had a lot riding on today,” he said.
“These matches have to be played with intensity, just like we did. Keeping a clean sheet after so long is also incredibly valuable. Unai Simon was decisive with his saves.
“Everything has to start with the team to engage the fans. People want to see a competitive attitude. We talked a lot this week about the situation we were in, how small the gaps were in the standings, and today there was so much at stake.
“We faced our fear and showed what we’re made of. It was a survival exercise in the final minutes, and we held on at the end.”
