Matchday 34

Burnley v Manchester City

Turf Moor

Burnley, England

Kick-off is at 21:00

Following a dramatic twist in the hunt for the 2025/26 Premier League title, Manchester City could make it three wins on the bounce when they take on Burnley away on Wednesday.

Second-placed City moved one step closer to dethroning Arsenal at the top of the pile following a 2-1 win over the Gunners at the Etihad last Sunday.

The victory saw City move within three points to Arsenal with a game in hand as the English giants compete for their ninth Premier League crown this season. Following an upturn in form, City have now recorded three wins and two draws in their last five, with 67 points after 32 matches.

Burnley on the other hand, faces a different prospect altogether as they occupy 19th on the table with 20 points from 33 matches.

While they trail the safe zone by a mammoth 13 points with five games left, Burnley would become the second team to be relegated from the League should they lose against City.

With four losses and one draw in their last handful of games, Burnley now faces a near impossible task of survival in the English top flight.

Reflecting on City’s win over Arsenal, Pep Guardiola expressed that everything is in place for Arsenal to go on and win the league, while he hopes for full recovery ahead of the Burnley clash.

“Arsenal is top of the league, if it finishes right now they will be champions.

“We have to see how they [the players] recover not just the demanding game that we had emotionally and physically.

“Six games left, we know exactly what might happen with or without results.

“We go to Burnley and have to perform to the level that we have to do. We go to win the game because it’s what we need.”

Head-to-head:

Games: 23

Burnley wins: 1

Manchester City wins: 19

Draws: 3
