As the 2025/26 season heads toward a close, AS Roma could make a last-ditch attempt at qualifying for the UEFA Champions League as they prepare to take on Fiorentina at home next Monday.

Roma currently occupies sixth on the Serie A log with 61 points from 34 matches played.

The Italian giants are just three points from fourth position, having returned to winning ways following a 2-0 win against Bologna last time out. Apart from their latest victory, Roma has struggled to yield consistent results recently, recording three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five matches.

Fiorentina however, endured a torrid campaign as they circle in 15th position after recording 37 points after 34 fixtures.

The popular Italian side recorded a 0-0 draw with Sassuolo during Matchday 34, a result that forms part of three stalemates and two wins in their previous handful of league games.

Reflecting on Roma’s season as a whole, Gian Piero Gasperini paid homage to the club for trusting in his process while thanking the supporters for their stamp of approval.

“The fans and the club are at the center of Roma, this is something indissoluble. I am a professional and I manage the technical side; in that area I take my responsibilities, as is right,” Gasperini said after their victory over Bologna.

I thank the club for allowing me to do that, not just from yesterday but ever since we first met. They have great trust in me and a real desire to let me work with Roma. That is what I have to focus on, not other things.

It’s a powerful club, one that can achieve great things, and I hope to make a major contribution on the technical side together with those who work within the club. The heart of Roma is the club and its fans.”
